NC G.E.M. Tiered Approach for Mathematics

To better support students who need more reinforcement in their learning of Mathematics, the department has Learning Support for Mathematics (LSM) programmes for selected Primary One to Primary Four students. Students are put into smaller groups so that the teacher can customize activities based on their learning progress.

For students with high ability in Mathematics, they will be invited to join the Excellence 2000 (E2K) for Mathematics programme.

NC BEST Mathematical Problem Solving Approach

Problem solving lies at the heart of the Singapore Mathematics curriculum. At NCPS, we adopt the BEST Mathematical Problem Solving Approach to help students become confident and reflective problem solvers. Through a series of guiding questions, students learn to plan, monitor and reflect on their thinking as they solve mathematical problems. This develops their metacognitive skills, enabling them to make sense of problems, evaluate their strategies and become more independent learners. Over time, students take greater ownership of their learning and build the confidence to tackle increasingly complex mathematical challenges.

NC Math Signature Programmes

The NC Math Signature Programmes provide students with rich and meaningful mathematical learning experiences across P1 to P6. Progressively designed, the programmes develop positive attitudes, strengthen mathematical skills and deepen mathematical processes through authentic, engaging and technology-enabled learning. Together, they build strong mathematical connections and fluency, enabling students to communicate, reason and apply Mathematics confidently, with the ultimate goal of nurturing creative problem-solvers.
