The English Language Literary, Drama and Debate Society is a CCA for writers, orators and thespians. The goal of ELDDS is to ensure that every member is equipped with the necessary skills to enable them to excel in debate, writing or drama. This also involves the skills for writing and speaking. All members are trained in the three linked disciplines of debate, writing and drama.In drama, members are taught the core basics of dramatic technique – the use of levels to create effect such vocal projection, awareness of body language, facial expressions and the use of space. In writing, members are exposed to variety of genres.
In debate, all members go through training on how to formulate and present arguments in response to assigned motions. This is to ensure that every member is equipped with the essential skills to enable them to excel in debate as well as skills for public speaking. It also opens their minds to different points of views and fosters a critical understanding of current affairs. We believe that the structured programme in ELDDS imparts valuable life skills such as the ability to think clearly and speak with confidence. Every member is given the opportunity to develop and discover their talents to excel confidently. |
