|International dance aims to nurture and groom students to excel in the area of dance. The International Dance CCA strives to spark passion for dance in our many young talents and for high standards of achievements in all performances and competitions we take part in. Our dance members are exposed to different dance genres and a variety of dance moves and techniques and the CCA hopes to be a cornerstone to develop future talents in Nan Chiau Primary School.
During the dance lessons, the students learn how to stretch and be flexible. They also practice their dance technique by training on their waist, foot work, flexibility, turn & spin as well as jumps and rolls. At the same time, they have training on musicality, rhythm, formations and performance concepts.
There will be games in most of the dance practices to develop students’ interest for dance, to foster bonds with one another, as well as to build up their physical strength and agility.
During training, the students learn the values of teamwork and perseverance. They learn that they need to rely on and trust one another in order for the whole dance performance to be a successful one. They learn to have confidence in themselves. On stage, they need to display their confidence and that will translate to their graceful dance movement.
Student leaders are also nurtured. They help to take attendance and take care of the props and their costumes. They lead the students in their warm-up exercises and help to train the younger students in dance movements.
The students always remember the 3 Golden Rules of our school:
They treat one another with respect and clean up the area that they use for training. They help one another in perfecting their dance movements, applying make-up and tying their hair for their performances.
Ultimately, we hope that the students will learn values that they can internalize throughout their life and boost their appreciation of the aesthetics, especially in the area of dance.
